Today we’d like to introduce you to Karley Chynces.

Hi Karley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I was little, my favorite thing to do on the weekends was go to open houses. Yes, this was my hobby at 7-years-old with my mom. When I was in college, the entrepreneur in me had a crazy idea to build an app to help students save money. Long story short, my startup fell in issues that my team and I couldn’t fix. Between legalities and copywriting, my fight back was extremely expensive and bleak. At that point, I decided to let my app die.

I needed a job, so I got my real estate license. My fascination for real estate since I was a little girl to starting a business has naturally drawn me towards the sectors of commercial real estate, new developments, and luxury portfolios. Doing what I love and understanding the process from vision to reality is what allows me to give my clients both the best and qualified experience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If the road is smooth, it is probably because I’m going down the wrong road… or I am going to hit a speed bump real soon. One of the struggles I have and continue to face is that there is so much competition. It is a constant battle of seeing what everyone else is doing and exploring ways to be different. Specifically, with my focus being on commercial real estate, people are used to dealing with old men (no offense) and from my perspective, the industry is just old-fashioned. I try my best to go against the stereotype, not only by being a young woman but by modernizing the “corporate” feel of commercial real estate and using it to my competitive advantage.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Global Real Estate Advisor with ONE Sotheby’s, specializing in Commercial Real Estate and investment properties, all of which fall under a luxury and global umbrella. Most of the time, I am known to be the person that is “always killing it”.

I am proud to have walked into an industry blindfolded and become something of myself. There is no sugarcoating how hard the field is when no one is feeding you with a silver spoon. It is very humbling. The most exciting part is that it is only the beginning!

The thing that sets me apart from others is that I don’t only do what I do. I am constantly working FOR my business and not just ON my business. For example, I send e-newsletters to all my contacts, write articles, have a YouTube channel, create and post content about real estate on a daily basis, and more. These are all things that make me a resource and not only an agent.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Naturally, I am a very happy person. Those who know me know that I am very optimistic and don’t know how to talk without smiling. I am happy that me and my family are healthy and safe, to have peace in my day to day, to live in a world where I can make my own choices, to have a roof over my head and food at my table, etc.

Happiness is not just one specific thing. It is found in any and everything. Mostly, it is found in the little things that are often taken for granted. The fact that I can wake up in the morning and choose to do what I want and have the ability to is probably what brings me the most happiness.
